Homeless Man Given $100 for Social Experiment; Video Goes Viral & Shows True Reward of Giving This Christmas [WATCH HERE]

Homeless man

A young man believed he was doing a social experiment to expose the state of homeless people when they have money, but when he handed a homeless man a $100 dollar bill, what the man did with the $100 left him stunned, displaying the true holiday spirit.

Josh Paler Lin walked up to a homeless man in front of a liquor store and handed him a $100 with the intention to expose that when homeless people have money, they blow it off on drugs or alcohol. What happened next actually wound up shocking the young man and compelled him to give the man even more money.

"I wasn't expecting to get this kind of footage... to be honest," Lin wrote under the video description of the video, "I thought this video would be more an exposing homeless people video at first. But I'm so glad that I could witness and capture such a beautiful moment."

Lin stated that the situation was one of the "most amazing" experiences he has encountered while making YouTube videos. "I did not only just help a homeless man, but I actually met an incredible human being and a friend," he continued, "We were following him for a couple miles for almost an hour or so."

What Lin and his cameraman capture on video was the man leaving the liquor/grocery store with a bag full of food. He then traveled to what appeared to be a park and walked up to homeless people and gave them food out of his bag.

"There's things money can't buy and I get a happiness out of what I'm doing," the man responded to Lin after being approached by him a second time and made aware of the social experiment. His selfless act to give food to others rather then use the money for himself compelled Lin to give him another $100.

The remarkable homeless man, named Thomas goes on to explain to Lin that he became homeless after quitting his job and moving in with his sick parents. When they died the man soon lost the home and ended up on the streets.

"There's a lot of people that are just victim of circumstance and they didn't go homeless because they're lazy." The generous man explained, "There's a lot of good people that are homeless."

He goes onto explain to Lin that when you do good in life you are on a "different path" and you bump into others that are good. The video ends with that sentiment and a hug between the two, but later that day Lin said he took the Thomas out to eat and got him a hotel to stay in.

"The more I talk to him, the more I sense how genuine he is.... I gave him my number and told him to call me when he needs help," Lin wrote in the video description, "This again proof that not all the homeless people are bad people. Never judge a book by its cover."
