"Good News Travels Fast" is a gospel album from legendary country band Shenandoah.

Country band Shenandoah just dropped their debut gospel album, "Good News Travels Fast," with original members Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire pooling their collective talents to try to conquer another industry.

Even though its roots are in country, Shenandoah is no stranger to Christian music, but this is the first time that the group is releasing a full-length album, which features original composition from Raybon and McGuire in collaboration with Gerald Grabb, Jerry Salley and Tim Menzies.

Raybon has perhaps one of the most distinctive vocals in country music, and he's bringing that unique voice along when he crosses over to gospel. Shenandoah is responsible for such hits as "Church on Cumberland Road," "I Want to be Loved Like That," and "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart," with Alison Krauss.

Nevertheless, the release of "Good News Travels Fast" doesn't mean that Shenandoah is abandoning the country genre. In fact, Jay DeMarcus is producing a new album for the band, which will spell McGuire's return to country after a decade.

DeMarcus described the experience as a "thrill of a lifetime."

McGuire previously told The Music Universe that country music is everything to him.

"I loved it even before we became artists though. I learned to play guitar and sing listening to all off Hank Williams Sr.'s old records," he said. "And honestly, it's just woven into the fabric of my life."

Raybon, for his part, said that if it were up to him, "Good News Travels Fast" would not be Shenandoah's last gospel album.

"There is lot we want to say in our music. Like we have in the past on our Country recordings," he said. "The Lord is the one main thing in our life, it's hard not to tell of all his goodness that He has bestowed upon us. We look to the future and His direction in it whatever it may be another Gospel record or not."
