Selena Gomez Seeks God and Prayer to Heal Her ‘Spiritual Gap’ Following Rehab Stint

Amid her whirlwind issues on love life and career, former Disney star Selena Gomez is turning to religion to help her recover from reported substance abuse and depression.  The 21-year-old actress has been suffering from various well-publicized problems and was admitted to rehab in January. However, as she has fought to recover, Gomez has started attending church believing that it is her "spiritual gap" that is causing her the greatest issues.

The Come and Get It singer was spotted attending a Christian Conference led by Pastor Judah Smith in Los Angeles late April.  Smith is also Justin Bieber's pastor.

Fellow attendees were surprised to see the actress "crying and praying in the spirit," Taylor Hodge, one congregant, tweeted on social media.

Another worshipper, Taylor Pike, told Radar Online, "She looked very happy to be there. You don't see young celebrities at a church conference often!"

Gomez recently admitted herself into a rehab facility in Arizona purportedly out of alcohol and drug abuse.  People close to her have allegedly claim that Bieber, Gomez's on-and-off boyfriend, is one of the major influences on her struggles.

A Hollywood Life source has said that the singer-actress learned about turning to religion, as a form of rehabilitation, in her Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous program.

Gomez was recently surrounded by conrtoversial reports when she went about an "Instagram cleanse" where by she deleted Kylie and Kendall Jenner out of her social media accounts, as well as former best friend Taylor Swift.  The former Disney princess was also reported to have broken down in the recent Coachella Music Fest.

In a speech she delivered at the We Day conference in Oakland last March, Gomez said, "Until recently, I had given into that pressure, I lost sight of who I was.  I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought others would accept me for it. And I realized I don't know how to be anything but myself."
