Multiple dove award winning Christian group Selah stopped by BreatheCast (BC) for an in depth interview on BC Pulse about their current No. 1 album, You Amaze Us. The band opens up about their most personal songs on the record, one of them a Billy Graham dedication, and they also reveal a possible dance album in the future.

You Amaze Us came out on August 19, and the single of the same title has been nominated for Inspirational Song of the Year at the Dove Awards.

Selah member Allan, known for composing a lot of the group's music opened up about his song on the record. "Nearing Home" is Alan's first co-write with the group and is dedicated to a visit the group had with Billy Graham at his home. Amy spoke about her version of "Just As I Am." She said although the group is known for doing hymns they like to add a contemporary touch to the traditional hymns.

"We make sure we have an even mix of hymns, just because they're so strong in their theology and often times the writer has gone through something intense," she said when talking about their albums.

Todd addressed their song "We must Not," which was inspired by the book 'The Insanity of God' written by a missionary of God in Africa.

Selah also features their staple African song on You Amaze Us. The song is a both English and Kituba version of Andrae Crouchs' "Soon and very Soon."

When questioned on whether or not the band would ever consider doing uptempo/dance worship music, Selah surprised BC with their answer.

"We're not generally known as the happy go lucky music group, we don't sing about Jesus is my boyfriend, we sing intentionally deep and upward and for encouragement and spiritual growth," Amy explained, "I think there is value in the Jesus is my boyfriend music because there are some people that would never put in a Selah record at first."

She went on to say, "We kind of been talking about possibly someday how fun it would be to take some of our songs, we've already done that have the deep message that have the real upward focus on Jesus and the cross and what he's done for us and have it remixed to a dance beat."

"We love all kinds of styles of music," Todd said. Amy added, "We could make it like a work out mix."
