On Aug. 15, Samsung unveiled a new high performance, high capacity, portable Solid State Drive (SSD) dubbed 'T5' in Korea and the global market.
The Samsung Portable SSD T5 features fourth-generation V-NAND technology, a dedicated controller, and an aluminum metal body, delivering industry-leading performance, security, reliability and ease-of-use. T5 supports reading and writing speed of 540 megabytes (MB) per second, which is about 20% faster than previous 3G 48D V-NAND based portable SSD 'T3.' It is the speed which one full-HD movie of 3 gigabytes (GB) can be stored in 7 seconds.
T5 is the size of a business card, slim thickness (74x57.3x10.5mm), and light weight (51g). An aluminum metal body and shock-resistant inner frame provide luxurious design and excellent stability.
T5 is divided into four detailed versions: 2TB, 1TB, 500GB and 250GB, depending on storage capacity. The colors are GB-rated bright blue (Alluring Blue) and TB-rated black (Deep Black). The interface supports USB 3.1 (second generation).
It also has a password setting function through internal software, and it provides various cables to easily connect with various devices such as PC, smartphone and so on. The price is $129.99 based on the 250GB model.
According to the Korean Chosun Daily Newspaper, Kim, Eun-soo, Executive Director of brand product marketing team at Samsung Electronics Memory Division, said, "Last year, T3 products attracted the attention of consumers and led the growth of the portable SSD market. With the global launch of T5, which is faster and more robust, we expect to provide a solution."
