Samsung Gear S3 Release Date, News: Newest Design Styled After Rolex?

Fans have been anticipating any news in relation to the Samsung Gear S3 and more often than not, the South Korean tech manufacturer managed to keep the details closed to its chest.

Now, new leaks have surfaced about the design of the Samsung Gear S3, as shown by Korean Twitter page, Tizen Café, which Wareable described as "suspect."

"Whether they're fake or not, there's not much to see anyway - the overexposed images show a round smartwatch with a metal bracelet and fluted bezel which looks very Rolex-y," it said. "And the words Gear S3."

Previous news reports have pointed out that Samsung Gear S3 will continue to be run on Tizen instead of Android, which isn't surprising at all.

"This would appear to back up reports from the end of May claiming that Samsung was done with Google's smartwatch OS," said Trusted Reviews.

Meanwhile, in other news, the development Samsung Gear S3 has been codenamed Solis, which is a smart name considering that it means "sun." That would also confirmed the Tizen Café Twitter post about the new device having a round face.

The "sun" also has another implication on the design, or what Wareable described as "Rolex-y," since the slashes on the bezel resemble the rays of the sun. Of course, the leaked images still could not be confirmed for now.

It's almost inconceivable that Samsung would return to a blocky design after the relatively higher success rate of its Gear S2," said Slash Gear. "A rotary dial is probably also already in the books."

For the release date, it is expected that Samsung Gear 3 is to be revealed at IFA 2016 in Berlin.
