Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Release Date News, Specs Rumors: Upcoming Phablet Name Change Seen To Create Hype

South Korean tech giant will completely bypass the Note 6 and just going to release the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, reportedly to create a hype for the new phablet, according to the latest rumors.

Korean website ET News, alleged that the name change was decided so the company can piggy back on the popularity of the Galaxy S7, and also to ensure continuity as people might confuse the Note 6 as an old product if they are not going to rebrand it as Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

"This is the first time Samsung Electronics is jumping over a number since it started releasing Galaxy Smartphones," it said. "Starting from 2010 until now, it has numbered Galaxy S series from 1 through 7 without leaving any numbers out."

PC Advisor shared the rumors about the specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 particularly on the device being waterproof for half an hour on depths of 1.5 meters.

"We've heard rumours that it will feature a very similar design to the previous Note and Galaxy S flagships, with a mix of glass front and rear and strong metal frame," it said, adding that the device could feature a more curved design in keeping with the aesthetics of the S7.

The release date for the new phablet is expected to be in the second half of this year, probably August right before the IFA in September.

More rumors about the specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pointed to a 1440p resolution on the 5.8-inch Super AMOLED screen. It's reportedly run on an Snapdragon 823 chipset mated to a 6 GB of RAM.
