Romantic Film 'Old Fashioned' That Challenged '50 Shades of Grey' Hits DVD Soon; Reminding Folks Chivalry Is Not Dead [VIDEO]

Pure Flix announced the June 16th DVD release of OLD FASHIONED (PG-13) the faith based film released Valentines' weekend taking on the controversial sex driven film 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

The film centers on former frat boy, Clay Walsh, and Amber Hewson, a free-spirited woman, who together attempt the impossible: an "old-fashioned" courtship in contemporary America.

OLD FASHIONED opened on 224 screens and grossed and impressive $1.9 million at the box office. The indie film released the same weekend as the controversial 50 Shades of Grey, and attracted audiences with its uplifting message centering on the authentic and romantic meaning of love. The juxtaposition garnered media attention for the indie film that featured coverage including TimeMagazine, Variety and MTV.

"With the film release of OLD FASHIONED, I wanted to tell a love story that takes the idea of Godly romance seriously and spark some meaningful conversations about love and romance," said writer and star Rik Swartzwelder. "We believe the DVD release will keep that conversation going; and hopefully, help bring a measure of additional healing and wholeness to those who my still carry wounds or guilt from previous romantic relationships."

OLD FASHIONED features Swartzwelder as Clay, and Elizabeth Roberts (Criminal Minds, CSI) as Amber. The film is co-produced by Nathan Nazario of Motion Picture Pro Studios, Dave DeBorde and Nini Hadjis. The film also stars Dorothy Silver (The Shawshank Redemption), Tyler Hollinger (Black Dog, Red Dog), Lejon Woods (Tomorrow You're Gone), Nini Hadjis, Maryann Nagel (Take Shelter), Joseph Bonamico (Trumpet in the Land), Lindsay Heath, Anne Marie Nestor and Ange'le Perez.
