'Red Dead Redemption 2' News, Rumors: Rockstar Talks Game Franchise Sequels

After Rockstar Games released a teaser for the sequel to their highly successful game 'Red Dead Redemption,' a slew of news, speculation, and rumors have sprung up for the game slated to be released in November 2015, says AutoMobile.

The avalanche of news is a testament to the western-meets-zombies game's popularity. Rockstar has expressed that they won't rush into getting the sequel into the hands of fans as the developer said in a "Asked and Answered" feature.

"As we've mentioned when asked about new games in other series such as "Red Dead Redemption,' "Bully,' and "L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that doesn't mean we won't get to them eventually. We thank longtime fans such as yourselves for your amazing support, and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what's to come from Rockstar Games."

The new game, originally set to be called "Red Dead Redemption 2," will now be titled "Red Dead Revolution," KDramastars reports.

It was also reported that with John Marston, who died in "Red Dead Redemption," will be replaced as the game's lead star by Jack Marston, continuing his role of protagonist as he did in the final part of the first game.

Crossmap reported that the sequel will feature a multiplayer co-op gaming option, and will be a prominent focus in the second "Red Dead Redemption" game.

Amidst all the rumors and speculation, what gamers can count on is that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released in next generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One) and PC. Another thing fans can hedge their bets on is the "Red Dead" games' longevity.

"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that "GTA' is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that "Read Dead' is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, of Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others," Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a recent Cowen and Company analyst conference.
