Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice and his wife Janay have been baptized in an attempt to strengthen their relationship with God and each other after the shocking elevator incident occurred months ago.

According to TMZ, after the incident the couple rededicated their lives to God by attending spiritual counseling with other couples who were having difficulties in their respective relationships.

As a result, Ray Rice and Janay Palmer got married on March 28, 2014. This was done as an attempt to move on from the ordeal of being detained and charged with assault after a physical altercation at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey on February 15, 2014.

"I called Ray Rice this morning to connect with him and we spoke very briefly," said ESPN reporter Josina Anderson in a report on September 9 when she remembered what Rice told her in their recent discussion.

"When I was able to ask him how he was doing, he said to me, 'I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot people praying for us and we'll continue to support each other.'"

Journalist Rachel Nichols also revealed what the previous football player told her after being indefinitely suspended from the NFL. This follows the new footage depicting Rice assaulting his future spouse and dragging her unconscious body out of an elevator seven months ago.

"Texted with Ray Rice. He told me: 'I'm just holding strong for my wife and kid, that's all I can do right now,'" wrote Nichols on Twitter this Tuesday in reference to her conversation with the 27-year-old New Rochelle, New York native.

Rice was originally suspended for two games by the NFL, prior to the league suspending the former Super Bowl Champion indeterminately after the Ravens recently released him.
