'Quantico' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Russell Tovey Joins Cast; Next Season Kicks Off With A Surprising Twist

Showrunners of FBI thriller series "Quantico" have enlisted Russell Tovey next season as Harvey Doyle, an impish raver.

A report from Hollywood Reporter says that his character is going to be a combination of Artful Dodger and Thomas Crown who can be anything he wants.

Speaking about his enlistment, showrunner Josh Safran said, "Ever since being introduced to him in 'The History Boys' 10 years ago, I've hoped to work with Russell. It's been an honor for the writers and myself to be able to create this role specifically for him."

The actor also starred in "Looking," which will air its final episode on July 23 following its two-season run on HBO.

Meanwhile, Safran revealed that "Quantico" season 2 will open with a surprising twist that has something to do with the role of Alex at the CIA.

"We're very interested in the fact that the FBI's so much about being honest, truthful and living up to your badge and the CIA is the opposite. You succeed if you can deceive. So it's going to be interesting to see. It's like a funhouse mirror of what we've seen," he said.

In the final episode of season 1, Alex left the FBI after being offered to work for the CIA. However, his response to the job offer will not be revealed until season 2.

According to Safran, the writers of the show are interested to showcase the differences between the CIA and the FBI as law enforcement agencies, as well as how they work together as a whole and as two separate entities.

ABC has yet to announce the official premiere date of "Quantico" season 2.
