'Prison Break' Season 5 Release Date, News: Next Season To Explain How Michael Survived

The trailer for "Prison Break" season 5 reveals that it is going to be one epic season. Lincoln Burrows portrayer Dominic Purcell previously confirmed that Wentworth Miller semi-retired from acting and it is likely that the series will not be back the way its previous season had ended.

The last time viewers saw Michael Scofield, Alex Mahone showed Sara and Lincoln the medical records of Michael, who also left a DVD to say goodbye to his brother and unborn child. However, the trailer for the new series reveals that he has actually been in prison all this time. While the showrunners have not yet revealed how Scofield will be back in the series, it is something that fans cannot wait to see.

In the trailer, the resourceful T-bag brings evidence to Lincoln Burrows to prove that Michael might actually still be alive. He then shows the evidence to Sara Tancredi. And while she wants it to be true, she is not convinced.

Part of the clip shows Lincoln visiting Michael in prison and promising to get him out of there. It looks like Burrows is recruiting Michael's old friends to help him break out.

The new season of "Prison Break" premieres on Fox sometime in 2017 and will air every Thursday at 9:00 P.M. Currently, the fictional brothers are filming "Legends of Tomorrow," where Wentworth Miller plays Leonard Snart.

According to reports, the series will shed light on Michael Scofield's being alive. According to Fox Television Group co-chair Dana Walden, it will serve as a bit of a sequel that will pick up with the characters many years after the last time they were seen in the show.
