Priest Spends Time With Grieving Family of American Journalist Beheaded By ISIS (VIDEO)

Americans are appalled after a graphic video of American Journalist James Wright Foley being beheaded by ISIS was released. A priest paid a visit to Foley's family during this tragic time to undoubtedly encourage and pray for them.

Catholic Herald reported that on Tuesday Father Paul Gousse, of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, spent about 45 minutes at Foley's parent's house. The minister did not comment on the matter or speak to reporters as he exited.

Foley was raised Catholic by his family in Rochester, New Hampshire. Father Gousse is the priest of the church that the Foley's attend.

Foley, a seemly religious man, once openly spoke about how the power of prayer helped him through a prior capture in Libya. Foley was kidnapped and held by pro-Gaddafi forces in 2011 and was released after 45 days.

"I kept telling (my colleague) Clare my mom had a strong faith," he wrote in an article for his Milwaukee University, the Marquette magazine. "I prayed she'd know I was OK. I prayed I could communicate through some cosmic reach of the universe to her. I began to pray the rosary. It was what my mother and grandmother would have prayed."

He went on to recall when he and his colleague prayed together, "Clare (colleague) and I prayed together out loud. It felt energizing to speak our weaknesses and hopes together, as if in a conversation with God, rather than silently and alone," he said.

Foley went missing again in Syria, November 2012 while working for the GlobalPost agency. The brave journalist was now allegedly murdered as seen in the video that Islamic State posted online. The killing was reportedly carried out by a man with a British accent.

Foley's mother, Diane, took to social media shortly after the video went viral and wrote on the Free James Foley Facebook page: "We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world.

"We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us. He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person."

Let us remember the Foley family in our prayers as they mourn the public execution of their loved one.
