'Power Rangers' Spoilers, Rumors & News: Rita Repulsa to be Film's VIllain

The 'Power Rangers' reboot movie seems to be kicking into high gear with the recent release of the official logo, and other details being revealed.

A very particular detail for the upcoming movie has been rumored by Heroic Hollywood, stating that the main villain will be the very identifiable Rita Repulsa. Fans of the original series will recognize her to be the most prominent protagonist.

The site also released a description of the film's adaptation of the character:

"A huntress. A striking, yet subtly alien-looking woman. She carries a metallic staff topped with a distinctive crescent shape. Advances with a soldier's confidence, guided by some sort of compass... Her staff is actually a device of immense power. She points it at the ground. Heads emerge, built layer upon layer like 3-D printing, made from the earth itself... The staff's technology grants her the ability to create humanoid figures, soulless and robotic."

The report also states that Rita will be introduced in the beginning of the film, during the cretaceous period, battling that era's Power Rangers.

There is also news on the Red Ranger being portrayed as the character Zordon. His description follows:

"Though alien, he looks like a man in his 50s. Sinewy and strong, as if carved from some root that refused to die. A being of integrity and iron will."

In a recent interview with IGN, the director describes the film to be playful but still mature.

"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way," explained Dean Israelite. "It had this wonderful character that's essential to going on a fantastic adventure. I was instantly drawn to it. I remember it as a kid. I grew up with it in South Africa."

'Power Rangers' plans to arrive in theaters on January 13, 2017.
