'Power Rangers' 2017 Movie Cast: Production Started In Vancouver; Official Synopsis Unveiled

Following the reveal of the characters, Dean Israelite's action hero film reboot "Saban's Power Rangers" has started its production, along with its first official synopsis.

According to Den of Geek, the production of Israelite's "Power Rangers" has started in Vancouver, Canada, as the film is set to premiere in March 2017. Along with its filming, Lionsgate has also revealed the film's lead synopsis.

As per Heroic Hollywood, "Saban's Power Rangers" follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small ton of Angel Grove and the word are on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.

The synopsis added that chosen by destiny, the heroes quickly discovered that they are the only ones who can save the Earth. However, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers to do so, before it is too late.

According to Cinema Bend, the synopsis suggests a "Power Rangers" film. The alien mentioned is the story plot is "Pitch Perfect's" Elizabeth Banks and the five rangers are played by relatively unknown actors.

As per the publication, Naomi Scott plays Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger, who was a popular girl at school, who opted to follow her own path; Becky G plays Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger, whose parents move a lot for work, leading her to be the "perpetual new kid" and outsider; R.J. Cyler plays Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger, who has obsessive-compulsive traits and a super nerd who do not know how to deal with other people; Ludi Lin plays Zack Taylor/Black Ranger, a charming super jock who has deep seeded insecurities; and Dacre Montgomery plays Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger, who was a big man at school and a star quarterback who ends his football career after a car accident. No signs are present as to whether the Green/White Ranger appears in the film.

According to reports, Israelite's take on the film's source material is "mature but playful." With him at the helm of the film, "Gods of Egypt's" Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and "X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stenz are on board for the first draft.

Israelite's "Saban's Power Rangers" is set to premiere on Mar. 24, 2017.
