'Pokémon Sun & Moon' Anime Unveiled: Ash, Pikachu Go To Alola; Ultra Beast, Rockruff Evolution Revealed

With Nintendo's much-anticipated video game "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" coming out in November, it is now revealed to also be the basis for a new "Pokémon" anime series.

On Sept. 12, Twitter user and gaming enthusiast @REMURINLOVE13 tweeted a photo. It is a new Japanese magazine scan that shows the new television anime "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon."

The image centers on Ash and Pikachu, along with other characters like Professor Kukui, Professor Oak's cousin, and the Alola's starters: Rowlet (grass type), Litten (fire type), and Popplio (water type). Other Pokémon like Lapras, Rockruff, Beware, and Rotom (in dex mode) are also present. The photo also shows the new look of Charizard and Sharpedo, who can use the moves Fly and Surf, respectively.

One unique feature in "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" is the Alolan forms of certain Pokémon, mostly from the Kanto region. Examples are Exeggutor (grass-dragon type) and Vulpix (ice-fairy type). It is assumed that the concept serves as a new flavor in both the "Pokémon" anime and the game.

Part of the scan reads "Ash Is Going To School!!" It is added that the series starts the student life, which has not existed to date. "Is he claiming for graduation?!," the scan says.

Previously, Nintendo revealed its newest Pokémon and Ultra Beast UB02. Not much has been unveiled about the creature, but some images from CoroCoro Magazine, as posted by Serebii, showed that the Pokémon is accompanied by two other Ultra Beast: UB02 Beauty and UB02 Expansion.

At this point, their role in the game and in the anime remains unknown; However, it is assumed that they might have something to do with the legends or the island's welfare, as UB02 Expansion faces Tapu Koko in "Pokémon Sun" while UB02 Beauty faces Tapu Koko in "Pokémon Moon."

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" also unveils Rockruff's evolution. Rockruff, who is revealed as a normal-rock Pokémon, is set to evolve into Lugarugan. The rock dog's evolution is affected by the time of the day and it evolves into either the Midday Form or the Midnight form.

Finally, players have seen a new Pokémon in the latest trailers, Type: Null. While there is not much information about the Pokémon, players are curious behind its nomenclature and some speculate that the Pokémon serves as a counterpart of Arceus, the Pokémon god who has a Multi-type ability. Further details on this Pokémon are yet to be revealed.

Players are set to choose between among starters Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio and legends Solgaleo and Lunala when "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" come out on Nov. 18.
