'Pokémon Sun And Moon' News, Monsters: New Salandit Lizard Will Poison Steel, Poison Type Pokemons?

Nintendo has released another Pokémon species for "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon."

On July 8 at the Japan Expo in Paris, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda revealed a new Pokémon for Nintendo's forthcoming titles "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon," as per Pokebeach. The Pokémon is a toxic lizard specie named Salandit, which is black and gray in color. It has a red marking on its back that goes to its tail. It stands two feet and weighs 10.6 lbs.

In-game, the Pokémon is part-poison and part-fire in typing, which means it is weak to water, rock, psychic, and ground. This means the "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" sea lion and water starter Popplio would be able to take down Salandit. On the other hand, the poison lizard's moves are super effective against grass types like Rowlet and fairy types like Cutiefly and Tapu Koko.

An interesting note Masuda made for Salandit is its ability, Corrosion, which allows Salandit to inflict the Poisoned status condition to both steel and poison-type Pokémon. It is known that in previous "Pokémon" games, steel and poison types are immune to poison; however, it is unclear if the ability also lets the user attack with physical or special moves or just merely inflict the status.

As per the game director, the ability is set to debut in "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" because Salandit is the first Pokémon revealed to have that ability.

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" are set to be released on Nov. 18. Watch Salandit's video here.
