Plumb's 'Need You Now' Helps Singer Out of 'Dark Times' and Focuses Her Attention on a Relationship That Matters [VIDEO]

Christian singer Plumb reveals the true meaning of her song "Need You Now," and says the songs transformed after a "dark time" in the relationship between her and her husband.

The singer chatted with NewReleaseTuesday for their 'Behind the Song' feature and spoke candidly about how God saved her marriage and redirected the purpose of her album.

"My husband and I went through our dark time in our marriage and separated, and then we reconciled," she said, "Once the album released, every song took on a completely new meaning. I wrote a book about that experience in my life, and after I finished the book, between touring and writing a book there wasn't a lot of time to write enough songs for an entire new album. So my manager suggested a brilliant, authentic and faithful idea that I could write and record a few songs that speak to where I am now."

It was this that sparked her to release the deluxe version of the album with a few new tracks that touched on where she was in life now.

She shared that her pastor preached a sermon on the differences between busyness and being hurried. "Hurried is when you are just flying, and you're not noticing the scenery at all. You become completely unaware of everything else except what is right in front of you. Busy is keeping your calendar full, but individually they are positive and good things, and you can rest in those things and know when you get home you are going to have quality time with your family."

That message along with conversations with her husband allowed her to reflect on her life and make a change to focus on things outside of her career.

"This is my anthem that I don't want to waste any more time. Lord, I'm ready now," she said to NRT, "Thanks be to God that He gives me infinite chances, fights for me and wants me so much. The lyrics say it all very literally. The bridge sums it up: there's nothing left to hide."

She continued on and opened about some of the the problems in her marriage including disconnection that had "the marriage falling apart." She also went through a time where she thought Christian music was beneath her as well. This took a toll on her spirituality as well.

"God can use you. With God, it's never too late, never, to start over. It's being able to live in the now that my Jesus has forgiven and forgotten my past, and that He can use me and wants me, and He wants me to want Him back," said Plumb. "Give it all to Jesus. Live for Him."
