PlayStation VR Release Date, News: Sony’s Tech To Launch At EGX In September

In line with the release of Sony's PlayStation VR, it is revealed that the forthcoming tech will be launched at EGX this year.

The EGX 2016, the biggest games event in the United Kingdom, is set to see the release of the PlayStation VR, Eurogamer has learned. As per the publication, the event is set to take places at the NEC, Birmingham from Sept. 22 to Sept. 25.

It is further revealed that the slots pre-book started on July 22 4 p.m. through the TryPSVR website. Booking participants have to be 12 years old and above. Unfortunately, Super Passes have been sold out, according to EGX's official website.

Aside from the launch of the PlayStation VR, fans can play the latest console and PC games from major title publishers in the tech and gaming realm, such as Sony's "Gran Turismo Sport" and Capcom's "Street Fighter 5."

The official EGX website also revealed some upcoming games from minor game publishers and they include Merge Games' "Aragami," The Good Mood Creators' "Mekazoo," Nomad Games' "Smash Up," Positech Games' "Political Animals," OutOfTheBit's "Super Arcade Football," and Nomad Games' "Talisman: The Horus Heresy," among others.

In terms of specifications, high-definition visuals serve as the pride of the PlayStation VR. As per Tech Advisor, the device is set to feature 5.7-inches 1920 by 1080 full, high-definition OLED display, which means a resolution of 960 by 1080 each eye.

In addition, the tech simulates real-life surroundings with its 100-degree field of view and 18ms response time. The PlayStation VR is also set to have built-in accelerometers and LED side lights, which track movements when the device is connected to a PlayStation camera.

Sony's PlayStation VR is assumed to be released on Oct. 13.
