'Payday 3' Release Date News, Update: Starbreeze Obtains Franchises Rights; Microtransactions To Vanish?

"Payday" fans are set to rejoice as crime video game "Payday 3" has been confirmed. Also, microtransactions are set to end, as Starbreeze has bought the franchises rights.

Swedish publisher Starbreeze announced that it has secured the rights to the game franchise "Payday" from 505 Games for $30 million, Game Spot has learned. According to the publication, it Starbreeze also confirmed "Payday 3," along with the announcement. This means that the company is set to have the full rights to the "Payday" franchise, along with its enhancements and commercialization in the future.

According to Starbreeze's website, 505 Games will have a 33 percent revenue share of the company's net revenues from the future sales of "Payday 3," which is limited to $40 million. This transires after Starbreeze has completely regained its development and marketing costs.

It is also revealed the microtransaction policies, which are controversial in the "Payday" franchise, are set to be removed. As per Game Spot, Overkill introduced special safes that could not be cracked by ordinary methods and only a unique sort of drill, which is priced at $2.50, could be utilized to open them.

Starbreeze CEO also shared his thoughts on the "Payday" franchise. In a statement, via Starbreeze's website, he said that "Payday" was very close to his heart and had laid the foundation for Starbreeze success in recent years. He also mentioned that they were very excited to bring their heisters home to the safe house, adding that they believed in the continued success of "Payday 2" and would support it for at least another 18 months continuing its expansion.

"Payday 3" is expected to come out in 2016.
