Struggling Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels gets the start vs. Tyson Ross for the Padres.

There's been a lot of surprises already in the 2013 MLB season. You see surprise teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland A's heating up in their divison races. One of baseball's biggest surprises is Cole Hamels falling off the map as one of the league's best pitchers.

Hamels is only 2-11 on the season. One high note for the Phillies going in to tonight's game: Hamels is pitching in his hometown of San Diego and against a team he's done well against in his short career. Lifetime, Hamels is 8-2 with an ERA a little under 1. However, his 2013 season has been a lot different.

Big picture for the Phillies going into the All-Star Break: free agent moves. Chase Utley's been in the hot seat as a possible free agent trade. Papelbon and Cliff Lee are a couple other marquee players the Phillies can't afford to hold onto.

Tyson Ross (0-3, 2.54 ERA) will look to pick up his first win for the Padres this season. Ross started out in the rotation but has since been relegated to the Padres' bullpen. Luckily for Ross, even if he falls behind early, the Padres' last 7 wins have been come-from-behind victories, including a 9th-inning comeback against the Phillies Monday night.

Tune in to see if Cole Hamels can turn things around for the Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies travel to Petco Park to take on the San Diego Padres tonight at 10:10 PM ET on Fox Sports San Diego.
