P.O.D. Acoustic Album Coming September 16; Band Uses PledgeMusic to Raise Funds, Give Updates, and Offer Cool Incentives (DETAILS/PRE-ORDER)

Longtime Christian rock/rap/reggae band P.O.D. is releasing a special acoustic album and have taken to PledgeMusic to try and raise funds for their new project.

The band is treating the campaign as a pre-order for the new album, and as a way for the band to be in constant communication with their fans as they go through the whole process.

The album will release on September 16 and if pre-ordered now from PledgeMusic, early access to the record will be given as well as behind the scenes access.

"We originally got the idea after doing a number of radio shows and radio stations asking us to perform acoustic. We were a bit hesitant at first, but after great fan reaction, we wanted to do a whole acoustic album. We've been hard at work in the studio and have already finished over half of the album. We've been having a lot of fun with it and it's got a really raw, stripped down feel to it," they wrote on their PledgeMusic site.

"We are thrilled that P.O.D., who have enjoyed a strong fanbase for years, has chosen the PledgeMusic platform to further connect with their fans to release this special collection of songs," said PledgeMusic in a press release about their partnership with P.O.D.

The band is currently at 29% of their goal with 31 days left.

Some of the tracks that will be included on the album are, "Youth of a Nation" and "Alive" as well as two new songs.

Incentives for funding the album range from signed road gear to the orange jumpsuits from the "Boom" music video. For $10,000 P.O.D. will play at the buyers house.

Often hard to classify, P.O.D. (Payable on Death), are a unique mix of nu-metal, rap-metal, reggae, hip-hop, punk, and hardcore. The band formed in 1992, and became very popular in underground rock circuits. It wasn't until 1999's Fundamental Elements of Southtown record that the band began picking up steam with "Rock the Party" and "Southtown," and eventually released their ground breaking album Satellite in 2001.

The band's last album was 2012's Murdered Love, which was their first after a four year break.
