'Outlast 2' News & Update: Game Supports PS4 Pro Mode, But No VR Support

Red Barrels Studio's "Outlast 2" is coming out next year and as per reports, the survival horror video game is set to have a high quality PlayStation 4 Pro mode.

"Outlast 2" is set to have a PlayStation 4 Pro mode, according to Red Barrel Head Philippe Morin. In his interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, he affirmed the detail, adding that it would have higher shadow quality, higher quality texture filtering, and more detailed meshes.

"That's what we have so far, but we're still working on some improvements," Morin said.

As per the publication, Morin's confirmation that "Outlast 2" is set to have a PlayStation 4 Pro support does not shock players, since nearly every game is bound to support that said tech. However, having knowledge on the game is set to be a benefit for players who intend to secure the PlayStation 4 Pro when it launches, according to the report

While the game supports the PlayStation 4 Pro mode, it was previously revealed that the game will have no VR support.

In his other interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Morin said that if one wanted to make a really effective and enjoyable VR game, it had to be built from the ground up for it. He added that since they were a small team with 20 members, they had to concentrate on one thing at a time.

"We'll see once we shipped Outlast 2 if we jump on the VR bandwagon," Morin said. While Morin negated the said VR support for the game, his statement also suggests a possibility of seeing the game in Virtual Reality mode.

Developed by Red Barrels, "Outlast 2" is expected to launch in 2017.
