‘Orphan Black’ Renewed, Season 3 Release Date: 10 Episodes to Have Premiere Spring 2015

Recently an official statement from BBC confirmed that 'Orphan Black' is set to be renewed for a third season. The critically acclaimed sci-fi series has been green-lighted for 10 more episodes for a Spring 2015 premiere. Production on the new season will start in Toronto in September.

BBC America general manager Perry Simon confirmed the news in his opening remarks on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour at the Beverly Hilton.

The one-hour drama, led by Tatiana Maslany, has become an important benchmark for the cable network as it expands its horizons in original scripted programming beyond British favorite "Doctor Who'. "Orphan Black' has attracted more than its share of accolades since its premiere on March 2013. Maslany, who plays a dozen characters, has earned a Golden Globe nomination and honors from the Critics' Choice TV Awards, TCA Awards, and Canadian Screen Awards. Recently, the show added a Peabody Award to its list of accomplishments. The series, along with "Doctor Who', contributed to place BBC America at the top of the ratings game.

According to BBC America, "Orphan Black' is the first ever ad-supported drama to double its audience from Season 1 to Season 2 in the 18 to 49 demographic.

"Orphan Black' is produced by Temple Street Productions, in association with BBC America and Canada's Space. The series is created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, with Manson also leading the writing team and Fawcett directing the hour-long episodes. The main cast includes Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Kevin Hanchard, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Evelyn Brochu.
