Officer Ramos Faith Lives On: Government Officials Quote Bible & Hear Gospel Message During Funeral Service [WATCH HERE]

Ramos funeral

Officer Rafael Ramos' funeral was held over the Christmas weekend and thousands of police officers and supporters were in attendance, including a very God conscious Vice President Joe Biden, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

All of the country was impacted by the news of the vicious murders of Ramos and officer Wenjian Liu. A deranged man who believed he was avenging Eric Garner, targeted the two as they sat in their patrol car simply because they were police officers.

Ramos was a member of the well-known NYC Christian church Christ Tabernacle. The emotional memorial service was held at his home church in Queens and opened up with a montage video; displaying photos of Ramos with his family and serving with his church family.

The memorial service was kicked off with prayer and a worship song. Then Pastor Adam Durso introduced Vice President Biden as he gave an emotional eulogy.

"We are all lucky to have Rafael, he didn't just have a Bible in his locker he lived it in his heart," Biden declared.

He also went on to praise the NYPD and the diversity of its officers, highlighting the fact that Ramos was Hispanic and Liu had a Chinese heritage.

"Police officers and police families are a different breed. Thank God for them. Thank God for them," he said.

Biden ended his speech with a prayer saying, "May God bless your family and the family of his partner, and may God protect the 84th precinct and every police officer throughout this great country and keep them safe as they stand watch for us, God bless you all. "

Likewise Mayor de Blasio spoke of Ramos' Christian faith. Pointing out that he loved blasting Spanish gospel music from his car. The Mayor said that Ramos reminded him of what he called the "most beautiful sermons in the Bible," the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus gave. Quoting the scripture, "Blessed are the peace makers."

Police commissioner William J. Bratton also spoke and although he did not live to see it happen, Bratton appointed Ramos First Grade Detective. The commissioner also felt compelled to quote from the Bible and spoke of Ecclesiastes the scripture that says there is a time to mourn.

Keeping the spirit of the entire service, Pastor of the largest church in New York, CCC, Pastor A.R. Bernard prayed for all of the New York City officers and then a retired officer sung a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace."

Senior Pastor of Christ Tabernacle Michael Durso ended the memorial with a beautiful short message from the Bible, taking the scripture that de Blasio spoke of and too associating it to Ramos. He tied it to the entire gospel message from Jesus' birth to his death. Durso acknowledged all of the elected officials in attendance and called them "God's ministers."

Ramos' faith also shined through by the reaction of his family to his murder. "We don't blame him. We forgive him. The Ramos family forgives him because God forgave us," Richard Gonzales, Ramos' first cousin, told 1010 WINS last week, "And I know if Rafael was here and it was the opposite, he would say the same words - he forgave him."
