Newsboys Drummer Duncan Phillips Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery Just Days Before Tour Begins; 'Recovery will be Swift!' (VIDEO)

Duncan Phillips, drummer of the Newsboys and their definite leader of personality, just underwent a successful knee surgery and posted a picture on Instagram.

According to New Release Tuesday, Phillips tore his meniscus and had been living through it since July 1, which was when he first spoke about it.

"Knee [operation] was a total success and headed home now!" he posted on Instagram, "Thanks for all the love and prayers! Recovery will be swift! Still a bit groggy as you can tell from this pic! Great staff at Vanderbilt Bone and Joint!"

It is unclear how long the recovery time for the surgery is, but the band has a show as soon as July 31.

His previous post on July 1 showed him getting a cortisone shot in his knee. See that image here.

"So after much pain, and an x-ray, MRI and some Cortizone it's determined I have a severely torn meniscus! Surgery is in my imminent future!" he posted.

When the Newsboys spoke to BreatheCast at the K-LOVE Awards, Duncan professed his love for singer Amy Grant. "A good mate of ours, Steven Curtis [Chapman] is performing, of course Michael W. Smith, and Amy Grant - been in love with her for about 20 years now, she doesn't know it but I'll just put it out there. Amy, I'm there for you girl," he admitted, as the rest of the group had a laugh.
