New York Yankee Outfielder Carlos Beltran recently broke his silence regarding the loss of his unborn son.

"Life took away the blessing of having my first boy. I believe in God and I am thankful for all his many blessings, like my beautiful family, friends, fans and my career," wrote Beltran on Facebook in Spanish on September 17 (translated by ESPN Desportes' Marly Rivera).

The 37-year-old Manatí, Puerto Rico native further expressed his views regarding his strong faith and trust in The Lord, despite mourning the death of his wife Jessica's unborn child.

"Everything happens and will happen according to God's perfect timing and my wife and I accept it that way. Thank you for the love and the messages," wrote Beltran.

As a result, Beltran's teammate Derek Jeter conveyed his thoughts about the former New York Mets player and eight-time All-Star's recent bereavement leave.

"It puts things in perspective," said Jeter, according to NJ.com.

"We're here, playing a game, and we're trying to win games. But the bottom line, family is much more important than anything that happens on a baseball field. Your thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family but that's terrible and I feel bad for him. He should take as much time as he needs. I don't know how much time that's going to be but he should."

The 40-year-old Yankee captain further expressed his sympathy for the Beltran family's recent loss.

"I can't imagine how he feels. It puts things in perspective. We sit here and we talk about guys struggling and people being frustrated and teams losing. But when something like that happens, you pretty much forget about the game," said Jeter.

Last year, Beltran glorified God when he became the first switch-hitter in MLB history to have at least 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases in his career.

"I just have to thank God for the opportunity of being able to play this game for a long time," said Beltran to reporters in July 2013 when he was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, "All the glory is for him. I've been fortunate to be able to play this game for long, and today, it's great. It would have been great if we would have won."

Carlos Beltran and his wife Jessica currently have two children together.
