Nelson Mandela died on Thursday evening at the age of 95. The visionary and world leader served as a symbol of racial equality and anti-apartheid sentiment in South Africa during his lifetime. Mandela has many famous speeches and quotes in the new biographical movie called "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" that chronicles his 27 year imprisonment and his fight against racial discrimination.

The film is being distributed by Weinstein Co. and was directed by Justin Chadwick. British actor Idris Elba stars in the film as Nelson Mandela. Harvey Weinstein, TWC co-chairman, released a statement about the film after Mandela's death. He said, "It's been an honor to have been granted such proximity to a man who will go down as one of history's greatest freedom fighters and advocates for justice. I have had the privilege of spending time with President Mandela and I can say his sense of humor was as great as his optimism."

The film debuted in South African theaters over the week and grossed about $21,000 per theater. It outgrossed massive Hollywood films such as "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "World War Z" and "The Wolverine" in South African theaters.
