NBA Free Agents 2015 Rumors, News: Will Kevin Love Skip Deal With Cleveland Cavaliers to Sign for LA Lakers?

Despite being a major pillar of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Love may be considering leaving his team once the 2014- 2015 NBA season is over. In fact, a report on NBA.com suggests that the Cavaliers may be in trouble next summer as Love as well as LeBron James may decide to cancel their respective contracts with the NBA franchise.

Sam Smith's report on the website reads, "It's not going to get as much discussion during the season, but one of the biggest issues for the Cavs is that both LeBron James and Kevin Love own opt-outs after this season," adding, "LeBron James basically cannot afford to go anywhere after his return to Cleveland."

Nevertheless, the case of Love is different as it is expected that the 26-year-old the All-Star power forward will draw the interest of many teams when he becomes a free agent once again next summer.

Smith is of the view that the former UCLA standout, who may possibly avoid the final year of his contract during the off-season, might consider signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

"But watch out for Love," Smith writes, adding, "Indications are he will seriously consider the opt-out and has his eyes on a return to Los Angeles, where he attended college and where the Lakers long have had him on their free agent wish list."

In fact, it is expected that the Lakers will be targeting big-name free agents next summer again after they failed to sign in any big player this year. Earlier reports suggested that Love, who is averaging 18.0 points and 11.2 rebounds, will be the top target of the Lakers next summer, provided he decides to skip out on the final year of his current contract.

Meanwhile, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report also reported that apart from the Lakers, the New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets will also go all out to acquire Love for the next NBA season.

However, Favale feels that the Cavaliers are likely to retain Love, as they are the only team capable of offering a maximum five-year deal. Moreover, playing together with James and Kyrie Irving also gives an opportunity to Love to win his first NBA championship.
