Sixteen teams will battle for the opportunity to win the NBA championship when the first round of the NBA Playoffs begins this weekend. All the action through the Playoffs will be available to fans to watch, with games available to watch online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).

In the Eastern Conference, the Heat are the favorites to win another NBA title, and they will be looking to win their third straight championship and fourth overall.

However, if they are to progress, the Heat will have to navigate their way past the Charlotte Bobcats (43-39) on Sunday afternoon. Although the Bobcats will be massive underdogs, they have some talent in their ranks, and they will be going all out to cause an upset, so expect them to leave everything out there on the court.

The Indiana Pacers (56-26) meanwhile clinched home field advantage in the playoffs after nearly losing their lead for best record in the East to the Miami Heat (54-28). The Pacers managed to hold off the threat from LeBron James and co. and their reward is to face the Atlanta Hawks (38-44) on Saturday night.

The Hawks recently won the eighth and final playoff spot, and they will want to take full advantage of the opportunity given to them by trying to cause a massive upset against the Pacers.

As a result of the Hawks making the playoffs the New York Knicks of course were left on the sidelines and they will not be taking part in the playoffs this season. The final weeks topped off a disappointing season for the Knicks, and for their star player, Carmelo Anthony, it is the first time in his career that the NBA superstar has not made it to the playoffs.

That will be a massive let down for him and many are saying that he will now need to go away and assess where he wants to take his career forward. So far, despite being one of the best talents in the NBA, Anthony has not won an championship in his 11 seasons in the league.

In the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs recently clinched the best record in the NBA (62-20). As a result, the Spurs have a home court advantage throughout the playoffs if they can pass the Dallas Mavericks (49-33) in the first round. However, the Mavericks will be up for a battle. They have put in some impressive performances throughout the season, and they will not be an easy target for Dallas to face.
