Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 Play Specs, Price Comparison: Dimensions, Display, Memory Camera, More

Motorola has three models lined up for its Moto G launch this 2016 - the Moto G, Moto G Plus, and Moto G Play.

As Forbes and several other media outlets highlight, the three models' actual names are the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play, with the number incorporated to denote them as the fourth generation of the Moto G phone series. This was to prevent confusion as to how people would address the new phone models.

In terms of dimensions, the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus both are 153 by 76.6 by 9.8 mm (6 x 3 x 0.4 in) and both weigh 155 grams (5.5 oz), as per GSM Arena. On the other hand, the Moto G4 Play is smaller, with the dimensions 144.4 by 72 by 9.9 mm (5.7 x 2.8 x 0.4 in). With its size, it also weighs less than the other two models with its 137 grams (4.8 oz).

All three models feature an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The G4 and the G4 Plus present a 5.5-inch screen while the G4 Play only has 5.0-inch screen. When it comes to resolution, the G4 and the G4 Plus have 1080 by 1920 pixels while the G4 Play has 720 by 1280 pixels. While all three have the multi-touch feature, the G4 Play does not feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

With regards to operating system, all three devices run Android OS v.6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Both the Moto G4 and G4 Plus run the Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core GHz Cortex-A53, and Adreno 405, while the G4 Play runs Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410, quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53, and Adreno 306, as per GSM Arena.

The Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play all have a microSD card slot for up to 128GB; however, they vary in terms of internal memory.

The G4 is available in 16 or 64GB with 2GB of RAM while the G4 Plus come in three variants - the 16GB with 2GB of RAM, 32B with 3GB of RAM, and 64GB with 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the G4 Play comes in either 8GB with 1GB of RAM or 16GB with 2GB of RAM.

The G4 models also differ in camera megapixels. With regards to the rear camera, the G4 has 13MP, the G4 Pro has 16MP, and the G4 Play has 8MP. The front cameras of the three models are 5MP.

The two larger devices powered by a Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery with TurboPower charging, while the G4 Play is powered by a Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery, which is a big step up from the previous generation Moto G phones.

The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are already available in the UK at £169 ($247) and £229 ($335), respectively, while the release and price of the Moto G4 Play is yet to be revealed.
