'Moesha' Actress Brandy Promotes New Christian Album with Kirk Franklin; She is a 'Vessel For God' (VIDEOS)

R&B performer and actress Brandy Norwood recently told Oprah Winfrey that she is releasing a new Christian album with The Walls Group.

"I'm so excited about the next album," said Brandy to Oprah on OWN's 'Where Are They Now' show.

"I just don't care about hits or fitting in. I just wanna be whatever I'm supposed to be.... Not think about all of the things that don't really matter. I just wanna be as truthful as I can in my music."

Brandy is best known for her role as Moesha Mitchell on the UPN network's hit 1990's series 'Moesha' from 1996-2001.

In addition, she also starred in popular movies including 'Cinderella' in an all-star cast that includes the late Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Paolo Montalbán, Jason Alexander and Bernadette Peters to name a few in 1997.

Furthermore, she also co-starred in the 'I Still Know What You Did Last Summer' film alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Mekhi Phifer and Jennifer Esposito in 1998.

Along with a terrific career in acting, she also is best known for her songs such as "I Wanna Be Down," "Baby" and her memorable duet with Monica in the R&B tune titled "The Boy Is Mine" in 1998.

However, despite all her success in the entertainment business, she revealed the pressure she faced growing up in that high paced environment as a young woman in Hollywood.

"I think that's been my problem," said Brandy. "The moment I started to try to fit in, I lost my way...I'm finding it.

Now, the 35-year-old also revealed to Oprah that wherever her path takes her in life, she will follow Jesus.

"That it's not about me, I'm just a vessel for God," said Brandy. "When you're young it's all about fame. It's about being popular or recognition. Now it's about service. It's a different thing."

Brandy's collaboration song with The Walls Group titled 'God on My Mind' is slated to be released on September 2, 2014.
