Microsoft Surface Studio Specs, Price News: Holiday Release Date Unveiled

The Microsoft Surface Studio release date has been announced to be on Dec. 15 this year, and that's good news to consumers or at least, to those who can afford it anyway.

The Microsoft Surface Studio is expected to carry a price tag of $2,999 upon the release date. The bundle will come with the Surface Pen. But people also need to buy the accessory, the Surface Dial, for another $100.

As to the specs, the 28-inch screen has a PixelSense display with 192 dpi resolution, 10 point multi-touch, and 3:2 aspect ratio and 6th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7.

It also comes with either an i5 Intel 8GB: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GDDR5 memory, i7 Intel 16GB: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GDDR5 memory or i7 Intel Core processor, up to 4 GB of NVIDIA GeForce GPU. You can choose from the 8GB, 16GB or 32GB RAM with Rapid Hybrid Drive options of 1TB or 2TB.

"Surface Studio is a device created around you and your thoughtfully designed workspace," the Microsoft website said. "The minimal and modern design sits perfectly on your well thought out desk, with clean lines and a small footprint."

One of the innovations for the new hybrid device is the Surface Dial, which triggers a color palette that can be very beneficial for graphic artists since they can pick and choose from the slew of options on the screen. It also provides direct access to a menu of shortcut tools, which again makes it easy for the user.

Pre-orders are now available ahead of the Microsoft Surface Studio release date on Dec. 15.
