Mickey Rooney, the much-loved American actor, has died, sparking thousands to leave messages of condolence on social media sites and forums. Rooney leaves behind his estate worth approximately $10 million, as well as wife Jan Chamberlin, 8 children (including Christian minister Mickey Rooney Jr).

Rooney was born Joseph Yule, Jr. in Brooklyn, New York on September 23, 1920. He is well-known for starring in some of the most legendary comedy films and television shows since the 1920s. Some of the most famous films and television shows Rooney starred in during his legendary career includes "Mickey McGuire," "A Family Affair," "Love Finds Andy Hardy," "Thoroughbreds Don't Cry," "Babes in Arms," "Boys Town," "Young Tom Edison," "The Mickey Rooney Show: Hey, Mulligan," Requiem for a Heavyweight, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and "The Black Stallion" to name a few. In addition, Rooney played the controversial role of I.Y. Yunioshi in the classic film "Breakfast at Tiffany."

During the Second World War, he served less than two years in the Army's Entertainment division before returning to his acting career in Hollywood. Rooney received multiple medals, including a bronze star for entertaining the troops. Over the next five decades, Mickey had an iconic career highlighted by winning a Juvenile Academy Award for starring in "Boys Town" alongside screen legend Spencer Tracey back in 1938. In addition, Rooney also received an Emmy Award back in 1981 for TV movie "Bill" when he played the real life role of Bill Sackter, a man who dealt with a mental disability.

Rooney developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ during the 1970's. The former child actor had no fear expressing that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the Lord of Lords.

"I believe God gave me my career. I was sent here to do my Father's work," said Rooney to the New York Times back in July 1993.

Rooney was married eight times and had nine children. In addition to his wife Jan Chamberlin, Rooney is survived by 8 children. Mickey passed away on April 6, 2014 at the age of 93.
