Michael Schumacher Condition Latest News: Discharged, To Continue Recovery from Home

Previous Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has left a Swiss medical center and will precede with his recovery at home, said his supervisor on Tuesday. The seven-time F1 winner endured a traumatic head injury while skiing in France at the end of December.

According to a short statement by manager Sabine Kehm, "Michael's rehabilitation will take place at his home. Considering the severe injuries he suffered, progress has been made in the past weeks and months...there is still, however, a long a difficult road ahead. We ask that the privacy of Michael's family continue to be respected and that speculations about his state of health are avoided."

According to USA Today, Schumacher was transferred to a hospital in Lausanne last June, following the six months at a hospital in France.

Kehm said he is currently at his home in Gland, close to Geneva, but didn't reveal when the move occurred or give more insight into his present condition.

Schumacher's mishap happened on a family getaway while he was skiing with his 14-year-old son at the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. The eager skier hit the right half of his head on a rock, breaking his protective helmet. Specialists had worked hard to expel blood clots in his skull, yet some were left in light of the fact that they were excessively embedded.
