Christian singer/songwriter Matthew West just released his new holiday single, "A Christmas to Believe In" and the song can be purchased on iTunes here.

According to a press release, West will release a lyric for the song on December 2.

"Christmas is my favorite time of year," said West in a press release, "I'm that guy who starts listening to Christmas music long before Thanksgiving even hits. The single 'A Christmas To Believe In' began with the thought that for some, Christmas may feel more like a season to merely try and get through or survive. But, my hope is that this song paints a warm picture of all the things that truly make this the most special time of year and a reminder not to miss it."

The original song was put out exclusively through Family Christian Bookstores as part of a compilation album. "They commissioned me to write a new Christmas song based on the theme that they had. The theme they have for this Christmas is 'Believe'. I went to work and wrote two or three different Christmas songs. It was the idea that I kind of happened upon was this song 'A Christmas to Believe In'" he said to BREATHEcast.

He explains it as a heartstring song that describes all the different colors of the season that in his mind make it something to believe in. The true meaning of Christmas is the "greatest story ever told" and that is why every year we can celebrate," said West.

In addition, West was invited by Dr. David Jeremiah to perform at "A Night of Celebration" on December 4 at the Beacon Theater in NYC alongside Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and singer Nicole Nordeman.

However, the thing most exciting to him is bringing his wife and daughters to town to celebrate Christmas in the Big Apple.
