Manny Pacquiao Next Fight 2014: Pacquiao vs Mayweather Fight Could Take Place in Dubai?

The most anticipated boxing fight in the modern era between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. might happen in Dubai, Prince Amir Shafipour has assured fans.

The battle of the two boxing legends has long been stalled due to disparity in fight revenue and other considerations, but given the connections of the Dubai royalty, the world might finally watch the duo inside the ring.

In his interview with Gulf News, Prince Shafipour said that with all his connections and influences worldwide, he is confident that he can bring the Pacquiao-Mayweather matchup into the ring.

"I will honestly and truthfully tell you that if anyone can convince them to fight, and to fight in Dubai, I can. I have a lot of worldwide connections, with managers, promoters, fighters, people in the business, who speak the same language that Mayweather and Pacquiao are speaking," Prince Shafipour told Gulf News.

Thirty-five year old Pacquiao is currently the WBO Welterweight champion and is holding the fourth place on The Ring pound-for-pound list. His most recent fight with Timothy Bradley on April 12 led him to defend the title after a unanimous decision. Currently, he is a politician, businessman, and sports ambassador in his country.

On the other hand, Grand Rapids native Mayweather is a five-division world champion with eight world titles in his hands. He is one of the highest paid sports athletes, according to Sports Illustrated. Like Pacquiao, he also won against fellow boxers like Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, and Miguel Cotto.

According to a report published by Sports World News, Pacquiao needed to break one million buys in order to consider fighting with the 37-year-old boxer. Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN News that promoters must come up with a unique sharing contract that would push both fighters inside the boxing ring.

Prince Shafipour, who is also a sports enthusiast, said, "We have shown fight fans in Dubai, the UAE, what we are capable of doing with the Global Fighting Championships. We brought some of the best K-1 fighters to Dubai and they put on a terrific show for a million dirham bonus, in addition to the big appearance money they collected. This was just the start. This will culminate in the biggest fight ever, between Pacquiao and Mayweather, showed off his capabilities in bringing Pacman and Mayweather to Dubai," according to Gulf News.
