Mandisa 'Get Up: The Remixes' Album Review – 'Non-Stop Feel Good, Dance Music' [VIDEO]

Popular Christian artist Mandisa is gearing up to release her much-anticipated Get Up: The Remixes dance album. BreatheCast reviewed the record and fans can expect to be on their feet all the way through.

Mandisa first showcased her gift to the world on "American Idol" years ago, coming in 9th place of the competition but since then her Christian music career has sky rocketed. Her last album, Overcomer, came out in 2013, and debuted at number 29 on the Billboard 200 Albums Charts making it her highest peak on that chart to date.

Get Up: The Remixes kicks off with a Capital Kings Remix of her No. 1 hit "Overcomer." The song starts off with a heavy electronic dance sound and maintains it throughout most of the track. Both the first chorus and bridge are left empty and build up into a bang, in true EDM fashion.

"Back to You" gives off that late 90's early 2000 pop music feel. The song is not as of an intense dance record but it is fitting giving listeners a chance to take in the content of the song.

The album picks up again to a true work out/head-banging tempo with "Joy Unspeakable." Aerobic classes and Zumba studios all over can surely use this tune in their routines. Perhaps that was intentional since Mandisa is a Zumba advocate.

In a similar fashion to "Overcomer," Capital Kings used a similar formula for the dance version of "Good Morning," except with a much bigger sound. it is similar to something you would hear in dance clubs.

"What If We Were Real" gives off that real pop/rock in your face sound with its "Neva remix" and Mandisa's well known single "Stronger" got a bit of a redo as the vocals were sped up on the "Movin' remix" version.

A BreateCast favorite and perhaps the most out of character for the singer was, the "Latin remix" of her song "My Deliverer." The salsa mix will certainly please Zumba instructors who are looking for a positive song to dance to. The song features a cool Latin riff on the electric guitar but left the listener desiring a Spanish chorus or two from the singer.

Mandisa provides a powerful and fun rendition of the popular gospel song "Shackles," a song made popular by the gospel duo Mary Mary. "Waiting For Tomorrow" slows it down a bit but maintains a dance feel. The song feels like a record to play in your car on a cool summer day with the windows rolled down.

"Only the World" has a very universal feel good vibe, prompting listeners to sing the cheerful words. The record ends with "Press On," a song that sounds like a 1 Girl nation anthem.
