LG World’s Largest UHD TV Panel Vendor, Finally Tops South Korean Electronics

LG reclaimed the top UHD TV vendor in the world this year after two years of playing second fiddle to South Korean electronics.

LG has reported a staggering 578,000 UHD TV units sold within the span of 22 months, according to the DisplaySearch's TFT-LCD shipment report. The statistic covers 28.1 percent of the global market of UHD TVs. There are 2.05 million units sold worldwide solely in the month of October.

This time, Innolux, LG's biggest competitor, came in next with only 24 percent of the market share. Another rival, Samsung Display got the third spot with 20.2 percent share.

Innolux has been on top of the game since they have launched low-cost UHD TVs internationally. The advantage in pricing and the availability of high-end specs helped Innolux thrive. Innolux products are made from mainland China and the United States.

However, LG rebounded in the market after the rise of the popularity and demand of high-priced luxury UHD TVs. As for the products of LG Display, they are operating in Guangzhou, China.

With this success, LG Display has rejoiced claiming that they have "finally beat competitors by launching UHD TV panels made by our own M+ technology, which combines our innovative pixel arrangement structure and rendering technology using our own algorithm," according to the LG Display spokesman.

Meanwhile, LG is focusing on innovating their products. They are currently investing in the OLED technology which will replace the stance of LCD Display TVs in the coming years, according to the company.
