Christian rapper Lecrae has been nominated in the Best Rap Performance category for the 2015 Grammy Awards next to big names Drake ("0 to 100/The Catch Up"), Eminem ("Rap God"), Kendrick Lamar ("i"), and Childish Gambino (3005").

Lecrae's nod comes for his song "All I Need is You," and this nomination is especially huge because it is not for a Christian category. He was able to infiltrate the mainstream to be considered.

Lecrae recently did an interview with The Boombox who spoke about the art of freestyling and did a bit of rapping himself.

"It brings out the best in me," said the Lecrae in the interview regarding freestyling. He shared that sometimes while sitting on the tour bus a group of people will get together and entertain each other with off the top raps.

"It's fun, it's a part of hip-hop, it's a part of the culture, and people are mesmerized by it."

Lecrae said he is a huge Outkast and Lauryn Hill fan, and like Tupac is looking to create a message in his lyrics to be an influence and make people dig deeper.

"I think listeners like to be challenged from time to time," the Anomaly rapper said to The Boombox, "I mean it's obvious when you walk outside and you look at skyscrapers or you look at buildings, or culture or society, like humanity is not ignorant, just stupid people, you know. We're creative, we are innovative. I think our music should reflect that. I think when people listen to my music it's a reflection of who we are. We're human beings. We're made in God's image. We're creative, purposeful beings and I want my music to reflect that reality."
