Lecrae on Atheists: 'We Position Ourselves as Enemies'; Can't See How Richard Dawkins Sees No Purpose in Life [VIDEO]

Christian rapper Lecrae tackled the tough topic of atheism during a recent interview with the Blaze where he questioned the thought process behind believing there is no God.

"If there's no purpose, if there's no creator and "¦ no rhyme or reason to the life that we're living, then why are we not acting consistent with that thought?" he said to the Blaze.

Lecrae believes atheists such as Richard Dawkins believe they create their own purpose themselves. This is something the Anomaly rapper says is not "sufficient." He believes a person's purpose and life comes from God's plan.

"I think that for some reason we position ourselves as enemies. It's kind of "us versus them. No, if anything it's "us for them,'" he said.

Lecrae also discussed his rise to the top of the music charts with his latest album. Anomaly was the right name for the album as it does not sacrifice faith and has still risen above everyone else.

"Without a chart topping single on the radio, without having to sacrifice my morality or faith "” this is still a reality, and I think that's a message for a lot of people," he explained in the interview, "It was a win for the culture, it was a win for a lot of parents raising children who want something on the radio that they can champion [and play in their home]."

Lecrae just co-hosted the the Dove Awards show with Bart Millard of MercyMe and the two were well received. The Texas native emcee also hit the stage with his 116 crew during the show.

On the red carpet the rapper joked to BREATHEcast that he was nervous about co-hosting the Dove Awards. "I'm actually nervous not because I'm scared I'm gonna mess up because Bart is next to me and I don't know what's going to come out of his mouth," he said.

"We wanted to create and experience and not just jump around on stage. We wanted people to step into it and say 'oh wow this is something like we've never seen'"

When asked what is to come in the future Lecrae said he will take the Anomaly Tour, featuring Andy Mineo, international and then take some time off. The hip-hop star said he will take time to be with his family and write more music.
