Lea Michelle stops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform her new single "Cannonball" and share her very personal insights that she has had to deal with since the death of her boyfriend and "Glee" co-star Cory Monteith. 

Lea gave a powerful performance of her new song "Cannonball" and her voice sounded great. You can watch her performance above. 

"Then after everything happened I met with Sia who's incredible and she said do you want to write anything about this?...I explained to her you know how grief really just, you can get sucked into it. You can literally lose yourself if you don't actually die from it you can lose yourself completely," shared Lea. 

"And I said to her I need to get out. I need to get out of my house. He would want me to live my life. I have to do this. She said, oh, that's so crazy cause I wrote this song it's called 'Cannonball' and you just said the lyrics. She played it for me...The minute I heard the song... it lifted me up. It picked me up from everything," she shared with Ellen. 

The 27-year-old "Glee" actress has her first solo album Louder releasing March 4, 2014. Her first single "Cannonball" released on Tuesday and is now available on iTunes.

"Glee" is currently airing Season 5 on FOX. They will take a hiatus over the holidays and return on Februarty 25, 2014 and continue the season on Tuesday nights. Season 5 will take the popular show through their 100th episode.
