The official synopsis for tonight's episode:

A celebrity chef fears she's about to be the next victim in a string of rapes, so she shoots an unarmed teenager that she believes is the assailant. Meanwhile, Benson struggles to move on in the wake of her kidnapping.

In last week's Season 15 premiere, Detective Olivia Benson [Mariska Hartigay] was tortured by her pan-season captor Billy [Pablo Schreiber]. She escapes via Benson-style roundhouse kicks but is still reeling over the traumatic experience.

We'll see some of Benson's mental and emotional struggles in tonight's episode.

In tonight's episode 3 "American Tragedy" concern has spread across the city after a series of rapes have occurred in the Upper West Side. In what she claims is self-defense, celebrity chef Jolene Castille shoots an unarmed teen who followed her home, fearing she was the next rape victim.

Tonight's episode of Law & Order was inspired by the Trayvon Martin case.

Jeffrey Tambor guest stars as the chef's attorney and goes up against ADA Barba [Raul Esparza] to test the jury's "moral and legal responsibilities."
