Kings Kaleidoscope Vocalist Talks 'Becoming Who We Are' Album; Names 'Zion' Track After Loss of Unborn Son (PREVIEW)

Chad Gardner, front man of indie rock/experimental worship band Kings Kaleidoscope, was a guest on this week's Bad Christian Podcast. During his interview he opened up about his band's new album and some things going on in his personal life.

Gardner's group was founded in Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington, but the group decided to part ways from leading worship there. They were able to bring their "brand" with them, but an album they were working on had to be re-recorded for legal reasons.

While in the process of recreating their album, happy news turned into bad news as Gardner and his wife were expecting, come this November. At 21 weeks pregnant his wife tragically lost the baby, which was discovered on the day they went to find out the sex of the child.

Perhaps what would be deemed as the toughest part of the ordeal, delivering a still born baby, became a time of peace and love for the family. They got to hold the premature baby, and it was "most peaceful" and "best moment of life" as the couple experienced being parents for the first time in their dire situation, "I think God has really blessed us with that in that's it's so hard and it's so sad, and we cry so much and at the exact same time I feel that God is really close. Living at the bottom of your heart in some sense is where you think most clearly and most accurately. I think we are still in that place right now," he said.

They named the baby Zion, which was a name they had been discussing before finding out about of the death. Despite the outcome, Zion was their miracle, and has brought the couple closer together as they have stuck through the trials and also have grown closer to God.

A track on KK's new album, Becoming Who We Are, is named "Zion" after Gardner's child.

"Anything that we are creating in life is just going to fade, it's going to vanish. I think throughout this year God has given me that perspective," said the singer in his interview.
