Kevin Max Launches PledgeMusic Campaign for New Album 'Broken Temples'; Record Expected for Early 2015 Release

Kevin Max

Christian singer and former vocalist of DC Talk and Audio Adrenaline, Kevin Max, is gearing up to release his new solo album Broken Temples, and has taken to PledgeMusic to raise funds for its launch.

It was originally set for an August release, and then November, and he is gearing to put it out in early 2015. Last night (December 8), Max launched a PledgeMusic campaign with a hidden goal to fund the project.

"Broken Temples is a musical companion to the great journey of the human condition. We are one part frailty, two parts misguided, with a dash of uncontrollable love and hope in the impossible. Like a darkened looking glass, the light cannot penetrate inside without it first being fractured," he wrote on the PledgeMusic site. "I heard a sermon one Sunday about the 'Children of Israel' wandering in the wilderness like 'Broken Vessels.' That notion and idea was the catalyst for the theme of what would be my 10th studio album. None of us are perfect, we are all broken and need the indwelling of the Spirit to make us whole. In the silence, and in the valley of temptation, trials, & defeat is where God can speak to us. When we surrender every bit of ego and flesh to the ultimate will of the Creator, we can truly be redeemed."

Max then explained some of the background info that went into recording the album citing he wrote it on an upright piano and an old Casio synthesizer.

"It was then brought into collaboration with several different writers and producers. I feel it represents the diverse facets of my musical influences and yet propels my music forward into some new directions," he shared. "Lyrically, I wanted to reflect the changes I had experienced of God working on me throughout the years. Redemption is not a foreign word to me, it is something I have lived out and at a great cost. God has met me in the valley of my own temptations, failures, inadequacies and doubts. I have been tempered by defeat as well as by great success. My legacy is the story that God is continuing to author and finish in my own personal journey of the soul. We are all broken temples."

There are 61 days left in the project, and 9% of it is already funded. Campaign rewards include packages anywhere from a pre-order of the CD to "Make-Your-Own-Producer Deal."
