Katy Perry's 'Grace of God' Performance Leaves Singer Hoping 'Angels' Are 'Still' Watching Over Her Despite Denouncing Faith (VIDEO)

Although pop singer Katy Perry denounced her Christian faith at the end of last year, the singer took to Twitter recently and stated that she hoped angels were still watching over her.

While on her 'Prismatic World Tour,' singing her song "Grace of God," Perry noted that a costume piece made her think about angels. Perhaps the singer is longing for the spiritual connection she once had, but has since departed from.

In a sequence of Twitter posts, Perry Tweeted, "My favorite part of the night was when I was singing By the Grace of God & a little white feather (presumably from a costume) floated by ... & it reminded me about the angels & how, maybe, they are still looking after me, helping me continue to put one foot in front of the other. (sic)"

Despite growing up in a Christian home, raised with both of her parents being Pentecostal traveling ministers, Perry said in an interview with Marie Claire at the end of 2013, that she no longer identified with any religion.

"I don't believe in a Heaven or a Hell, or an old man sitting on a throne," the 29-year-old Pop star said in the interview, "I'm not Buddhist, I'm not Hindu, I'm not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God."

Once a Christian artist herself, Perry's secular pop albums contain a lot of Christian language as well, which left listeners with mixed messages as to where she stands in her faith. The song "Grace of God" is off of her latest album Prism. The catchy tune, which repeats the words, "By The Grace of God" over and over, and is loaded with Biblical references. The song was written about how she got through her suicidal thoughts after a very public divorce to Russell Brand.
