'Justice League' Movie Release Date, Rumors: More Marvel and DC Superhero Movies on the Way

Fans are hoping to hear about the release date for the upcoming Justice League film this July at Comic Con 2014. While there has yet to be an official statement regarding the movie's launch, sources speculate a 2017 release date.

With many upcoming superhero saga films on their way to theaters, the Justice League movie finds a logical spot in the following speculated schedule:

May 2016 - Batman v Superman

July 2016 - Shazam Xmas

December 2016 - Sandman

May 2017 - Justice League

July 2017 - Wonder Woman

December 2017 - Flash and Green Lantern team-up

May 2018 - Man Of Steel 2.

While the Justice League film is in its early stages of production, Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production, Greg Silverman had this to say about the franchise, "it will be a further expansion of this universe. 'Superman vs Batman' will lead into 'Justice League," he told The Wall Street Journal.

It has been officially announced that the director for the upcoming Justice League film will be Zack Snyder. Although the script is still in development, the official list of super heroes so far confirmed for the movie are, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. According to reports, Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

Meanwhile, for Wonder Woman's fans, there are no official plans yet that have been laid down for a Justice League spinoff, but according to Warner executives, "That is our hope. With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her." said Sue Kroll President of Worldwide Marketing to WSJ.

Warner Bros. has several other movies in development that are based on DC superhero story-lines of the comics. It was rumored that they include "Shazam," "Metal Men," "100 Bullets," and "Fables." Luckily for fans of Marvel and DC Comics, many more superhero films are prepared to make their way onto the big screen.
