John Kerry Accident News: United States Secretary of State Hospitalized After Bike Accident

John Kerry, United States Secretary of State has been hospitalized after hitting a curb while bicycle riding in Scionzier, France on May 31.

Kerry was flown to a nearby Geneva hospital immediately in order to receive the necessary treatment.

Kerry is a frequent cyclist and is known to often bring his bike on international trips.

During this trip, he had plans to visit Spain and attend a conference about counter ISIL tactics, but he will be cutting his trip short and heading back to the United States for further medical treatment.

In a statement, John Kirby, the spokesman of the United States State Department, did confirm that Kerry's injuries were not fatal and he is expected to make a full recovery.

"The secretary is stable and never lost consciousness, his injury is not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery," said Kirby. "Secretary Kerry is in good spirits and is grateful to the French and Swiss authorities, doctors, and nurses who assisted him after the accident."

After having X rays done at a Swiss hospital, it was confirmed that Kerry fractures his right femur.

The injury is very close to the area where the secretary underwent hip surgery in the past, so he will be returning home to receive treatment from the surgeon who performed his hip operation, according to reports from CNN.

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the fracture may require surgery and can take up to six months to heal properly.

American citizens are happy to hear that the Secretary of States injuries are no life threatening, and hopefully he will make a full recovery.
