New Music Video Premier Garners Praise at Fundraiser

Remember Nhu, an organization that exists to prevent the exploitation of children in the sex trade industry throughout the world, premiered the music video from top 40 Billboard artist Jennifer Shaw at a fundraiser in Portland,Oregon. Co-written by Shaw, the song "To Be Love" is featured on Shaw's new CD entitled Someday and will continue to be used by Remember Nhu at their various events.  Shaw (pictured right with Nhu, the girl after whom the organization is named) was on-hand to perform live for the fundraiser and will be appearing at two additional fundraising events for the organization in a few weeks.

The Portland event raised over $240,000 for a boy's home in Thailand, almost doubling the organization's fundraising goals.  Remember Nhu hopes to raise enough money in the coming weeks to start building homes for children in Bolivia. Barbara Kisley, a board member for the non-profit, said the song and video were "wonderful...we were all in tears when it was over." Arlene Sengstack, Development Director for Remember Nhu said, "[Jennifer] beautifully expressed what it means to see something through God's eyes.  I believe when we do that, we don't have a choice but to respond." Shaw has felt a special connection with the organization since joining them on a trip to Thailand earlier this year.

"It was very difficult as a parent to know that there were children living behind those windows in Thailand who were in slavery and being abused in ways I couldn't begin to fathom," recalls Shaw. "Some estimate that 15% of the GDP in Thailand is from prostitution The children we met who were caught up in this horror were the ages of our children back home, and that just broke my heart even more. Being there made me aware of the need for the Christian community to step up and be God's people as we fight this terrible evil.  I wrote the song 'To Be Love'  to call people to act, to pray, and to invoke God's mercy for these precious kids."

This month, another song from Shaw's new album entitled "Your Child" has been given away free to special needs families to bring awareness to sensory disorders and other special needs issues.  Shaw's own son, Toby, was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) at an early age which is chronicled in Shaw's first book, Life Not Typical: How Special Needs Parenting Changed my Faith and my Song. A music video of the song is also in the works and special needs families from across the country are participating by sending in photos of their children for inclusion in the video. Jeffrey Kubach, whose credits include the hit television shows "Burn Notice" and "Survivor" as well as a nomination for Best Pop Video from Gospel Music Channel, will serve as director for the video. Because SPD is closely aligned with autism, Shaw's book was recently added to the Resource Library of Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization.

With degrees in both piano and vocal performance, Shaw completed her graduate work in opera performance at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music.  A former professor at Cedarville University, Shaw is a top 40 Billboard artist and has garnered a #3 hit song on the national Inspirational radio charts.  For more information on Remember Nhu, visit www.RememberNhu.org.
