Jason Aldean Divorce Interview UPDATE: Country Star Opens Up About Divorce Settlement Papers for the First Time [PHOTO]

Everyone was surprised when Jason Aldean split with his wife and high school sweetheart of 12 years after five platinum albums and a record-breaking world tour. Aldean was caught kissing an American Idol contestant and his now ex-wife, Jessica Ussery, initiated the divorce. Aldean spoke for the first time since the divorce about that fateful night with Brittany Kerr in Los Angeles. He sat down with Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" in preparation for the Country Music Awards tonight.

He said, "When you have to deal with all that stuff in public, I mean, it's hard to - it's hard enough to deal with it in private. It's one of those things where, you know, you go out and you're just hanging out. I think the biggest thing is, you know, obviously there was things going on in my marriage at the time where it just wasn't really happy. And you go out and you kind of let your guard down a little bit and things happen, and unfortunately... it's tough. Probably the best thing that could have happened that night was... they also took the pictures of me getting in a cab with my buddies. So it was, you know, it is what it is."

A short seven months after the paparazzi photos surfaced, Jessica Ussery filed for divorce from Aldean.
